European Privacy Protection: Enigma, Crisis and Future - On Parallels, Differences and Solutions

The system of European Data Protection will seem as an enigma to many outside observers. The presentation will seek to provide a more easy access to some of its key concepts. Emphasis will be placed on the need of transparency and co-operation in drawing parallels to the current financial and economic crisis and the approaches to solve its problems by establishing a spirit of co-operation, and installing appropriate institutions and procedures for co-operation.
